Maldon District Council has launched an exciting new initiative, Street Tag, designed to encourage residents of all ages to get active, improve their wellbeing, and explore the district.
Delivered in partnership with Street Tag LTD, the programme introduces a fun, family-friendly interactive activity that combines physical exercise with digital technology, rewarding participants for being active in their local area.
Street Tag is a free mobile app-based activity that turns the district into a virtual playground. Participants earn points by walking, running, cycling, or visiting virtual ‘tags’ located across local neighbourhoods, parks and open spaces. Points can be exchanged for prizes, and players can compete as individuals or as part of teams within their community.
The first Street Tag season will run from 1 July to 27 August, giving residents an excellent opportunity to get outdoors and stay active during the warmer months. A second season will follow from 19 October to 14 December, ensuring the benefits of the programme continue throughout the year.
A public launch event will be held at the amphitheatre in Promenade Park between 15:30 and 17:30pm on Wednesday 1 July, where residents can enjoy free family friendly games and activities, as well as a guided tutorial from the Street Tag team.
